What to Expect

What to Expect When You Visit

Visiting a new church can feel daunting, but at St Augustine's & St Luke's, we strive to create a warm and welcoming environment for everyone. Here’s what you can expect during your visit.

  • What should I expect on a Sunday?

When you arrive at the entrance, you will be greeted by one of our team members who would be happy to answer any questions you may have – or will find someone who can.  Our Sunday services start at 10am and finish between 11 - 11.30am.  Various styles of worship are offered throughout the month: Café Church is every 1st Sunday, Holy Communion on 2nd and 4th Sundays and Morning Worship every 3rd and 5th Sunday.  For more information about the services please see ‘Sunday Services

Refreshments are offered after each service with many people staying for drinks and a chance to catch up or meet new people.  If you would like someone to talk or pray with after the service, please ask one of the team who led the service.

  • What happens for children?

Children of all ages are welcome to go out to Club JC, usually after the first hymn of the main service.  Our Families, Children and Youth Worker and her team lead the children into an adjoining room where they enjoy sessions with singing, stories, teaching, prayer, games & more.  The children are split into age-appropriate groups, with different activities based around the Bible verses for that week.  Children can be accompanied by an adult if they are unsure about going alone.  Children are also very welcome to stay in the main part of the church.

For more information, please see ‘Children and Young People on Sundays

  • Where do I park? How do I get to you?

Some spaces are available in the church car park and there is also ample space for parking on local residential roads and outside the shops next to the church.

The church sits in the middle of the 208 bus route which runs between Lewisham and Orpington, with a stop just a 2 minute walk away.

  • What else is going on through the week?

There are different activities taking place during the week for adults and children to bring people together socially, or to discover more about the Bible and pray with one another.

For more information, please see ‘Groups

  • What should I wear?

There's no strict dress code at our church. You’ll find people in everything from casual attire to smart clothing. Wear what makes you comfortable!
  • I’ve got a question which wasn’t answered here…

Please contact the church office and our administrator would be happy to answer any questions you may have – or will direct you to the right team member who can help.
